RSPB Leighton Moss

Main Contact: Maggy Lightfoot
Description of work:

Visit Leighton Moss for an exciting educational programme, which is designed to bring learning to life. Your pupils will be able to explore the world of nature for themselves. Curriculum linked programmes are modular and led by enthusiastic, trained field teachers. Learn about birds, plants, invertebrates and other wetland wildlife in their natural habitats.

Whats Special ?: Leighton Moss is one of the RSPB’s most accessible and popular nature reserves, and is open all year round.  With its interesting variety of habitats, including the largest reedbed in the north-west, there is always something to see.  Wildlife includes rare birds such as bitterns, bearded tits and marsh harriers, as well as mammals, including roe and red deer.  In contrast, the vast inter-tidal sandflats and saltmarshes of nearby Morecambe Bay attract thousands of wading birds and wildfowl every autumn and winter.
