Minstead Study Centre is located in the Old Victorian School in the village of Minstead in the New Forest. It is a Hampshire County Council Establishment catering for Hampshire school children. We provide five day residential experiences for up to thirty two children.

The Centre has created an atmosphere and ethos that is unique amongst such Centres in that it endeavors to instill an attitude of caring and responsibility amongst those who visit.

The curriculum on offer provides a core of science and geography studies delivered in an exciting and innovative manner, but the programmes reach much further into art, drama, music, religion and history. Developing personal responsibility and nurturing positive attitudes towards each other ranks high amongst the aims of the Centre. Such diversity allows us to reach a wider audience. We feel it is through such experiences that children are able to establish and understand their connection, influence and responsibilities towards the people, plants and animals of Planet Earth.

The main educational aim of the Centre is that of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability.

We endeavour to integrate as many aspects of the Centre's daily functions and routines into the educational programme delivered to schools.

There are lots of things that we do at Minstead so that your time here is filled with new and exciting adventures and experiences. Some things that you might have done before, like pond dipping, will be done in a new and exciting way (we hope).

Much of what you do here has to do with getting on with all the other people and creatures and plants that you will be sharing your time with. Time in the dormitories where you'll sleep, in the dining room where you'll eat, in the classroom where activities begin and in the big outdoors where all sorts of things happen.

The Centre will be yours for a whole five days and the things that you do, how you behave, the respect that you show, will make a very big difference to everybody. It will make a difference to the other children, your teachers and others from your school, to the people who work at the Centre, and to those who live and work in the village of Minstead.
